B Cells in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)

Technology #2012-112

We have identified abnormalities in the B cell compartment in the circulation of patients with ALS. This abnormality could be used to develop a test to measure the prognosis of patients with ALS or to diagnose patients with different forms of the disease. Additionally, the involvement of B cells in the pathology of ALS will lead treatments that may ameliorate the disease or its symptoms.
