Although anterior cervical fusion is one of the most commonly performed spine procedures in the world, adequate retraction and plate placement remains difficult. A Mayo inventor has created an anterior cervical retractor that minimizes its displacement, prevents tissue creep into the surgical field, does not need to be repositioned in multilevel cases, and eases the application of an anterior cervical plate. This retractor attaches to the surgical table and engages the patient’s anatomy through multiple mounted arms.
