Transapical access is being performed increasingly for treatment for a variety of structural heart diseases. In the past, that has been done through a small mini thoracotomy. However, a percutaneous approach is being studied and will be an important means of optimizing and enhancing care of patients. Such a percutaneous transapical approach will need to have a means to percutaneously close that apical access site. This potential approach is aimed at this as platform technology.
